My family had this three-book set when I was a kid, and I remembered them fondly - so much so that when I came across another copy in Colleen's Books in Houston during a family visit I decided I had to have them. The selections, and Sibley's line-drawing illustrations, are a very nice mix. This first book focues on nursery rhymes, riddles and other fare for very young children, but many of the stories and poems are good enough to hold the interest of the adult who may have to keep re-reading them on demand. Among my favorites here: Dr. Seuss' "500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins," Wanda Gag's "Millions of Cats", Bianco's "The Velveteen Rabbit," and Ogden Nash's hilarious poem "The Tale of Custard the Dragon".
